Prayer For The Nations By Evangelist Sam Biggers

February 27, 2018 – Please pray for Equatorial Guinea

Equatorial Guinea is the only sovereign African state in which Spanish is an official language. As of 2015, the country had an estimated population of 1,222,000.

Equatorial Guinea has a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. From June to August, Río Muni is dry and Bioko wet; from December to February, the reverse occurs. In between there is gradual transition. Rain or mist occurs daily on Annobón, where a cloudless day has never been registered.

The country’s authoritarian government has one of the worst human rights records in the world, consistently ranking among the “worst of the worst” in Freedom House’s annual survey of political and civil rights. Human trafficking is a significant problem; the 2012 U.S.Trafficking in Persons Report stated that Equatorial Guinea “is a source and destination for women and children subjected to forced labor and sex trafficking.” The report rates Equatorial Guinea as a government that does not fully comply with minimum standards and is not making significant efforts to do so.”

The principal religion in Equatorial Guinea is Christianity, the faith of 93% of the population. Roman Catholics make up the majority (87%), while a minority is Protestants (5%). 2% of the population follows Islam. The remaining 5% practice Animism, Bahá’í Faith, and other beliefs.

The above are from These statements have not been fact-checked and are only used here to help us gain a better understanding of this nation.

One does not have to read much about this nation to realize there is a need for divine intervention within this nation. Our hearts should bleed when we read reports of forced child labor and sex trafficking within any nation. Our prayers for this nation should focus on the need for justice and righteousness, and, I believe we are called to action in addition to prayer. If the only thing we do is pray without action, we often are praying in vain.

Please start a conversation with others about this nation and ask for their prayers.. Then we need to contact our nation’s leaders to speak out and oppose the authoritarian government and seek actions that will bring change.

Christ alone can bring pressure on this nation’s leaders to force change. Let us pray He will destroy the wicked if they will not change and free who are slaves of others. Every person was created to live in freedom.

Let join together and pray for this small nation that it may have huge spiritual influence in the surrounding nations. .

1. Pray for the love of Gospel to penetrate deep into the hearts of the people of this nation and to us as well.

2. Pray for the Christian spiritual leaders to have much love, mercy and boldness to share the Gospel and those who follow Jesus to give great witness about Jesus. They will reach out, not only in word, but also take action to shop abuse. It is a great sin God will not condone.

3. Pray for safety and peace from the message of the Gospel to grow within the nation.
