Prayer For The Nations By Evangelist Sam Biggers

February 19, 2018 – Please pray for Denmark

Denmark is a Nordic country and a sovereign state located in Northern Europe. The southernmost of the Scandinavian nations, it is southwest of Sweden and south of Norway and bordered to the south by Germany. The Kingdom of Denmark also comprises two autonomous constituent countries in the North Atlantic Ocean: the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark proper consists of the peninsula of Jutland 443 named islands with the largest being Zealand, the North Jutlandic Island, and Funen. The capital is Copenhagen located on Zealand.

Denmark has a population of 5.75 million. Denmark has a developed mixed economy that is classed as a high-income economy by the World Bank.

Christianity is the dominant religion in Denmark. In January 2017, 75.9% of the population of Denmark were members of the Church of Denmark, the officially established church, which is Protestant in classification and Lutheran in orientation. Despite the high membership figures, only 3% of the population regularly attends Sunday services and only 19% of Danes consider religion to be an important part of their life.

Until the 1970s, the state formally recognized “religious societies” by royal decree. Today, religious groups do not need official government recognition; they can be granted the right to perform weddings and other ceremonies without this recognition. Muslims make up approximately 3.7% of the population and form the country’s second largest religious community and largest minority religion. The Danish Foreign Ministry estimates that other religious groups comprise less than 1% of the population individually and approximately 2% when taken all together.

According to a 2010 poll, 28% of Danish citizens polled responded that they “believe there is a God”, 47% responded that they “believe there is some sort of spirit or life force” and 24% responded that they “do not believe there is any sort of spirit, God or life force”. Another poll, carried out in 2009, found that 25% of Danes believe Jesus is the son of God, and 18% believe he is the Savior of the world.

The above are from en.wikipedia.org. These statements have not been fact-checked and are only used here to help us gain a better understanding of this nation.

Humanity has a struggle with understanding the true nature and personality of God. Holding a strong personal relationship with Jesus seems foreign to the mind of man; therefore, other possessions and pleasures in life take priority over a faithful commitment to worship God by following His commandments.
Prayer is the bond that connects us to Christ. It is valuable and cannot be underestimated. Here are a few thoughts on how we can pray for Denmark.

1. Pray for the committed believers in Jesus to faithfully share the Gospel.

2. Pray for the local pastors to be encouraged in an age of skepticism where many are religious but neglect a personal relationship with Jesus.

3. Pray for God to bind the enemy and for a spiritual awakening will sweep across this nation.
