I have been speaking with a wonderful Christian brother about the need for a spiritual revival. I do not have the answers for why we have not seen a deep rooted, life changing spiritual revival for many years. One thing I do know is that the Church in general has lost it’s saltiness.
Where is the fire of God to cleanse our lives and create a pure heart in us? We must have another Pentecost and I need it in my life – daily. We need for the Holy Spirit to stir our heart, mind and soul to begin to earnestly seek and pray for a new spiritual awakening in our churches.
We should see miracles in the church. People getting saved, requesting and yielding in baptism and healings are a sign of a healthy growing church. We must have the infilling presence and power of the Holy Spirit birth new life in us. These are the proof of the work of the Holy Spirit.
God calls for people to be set on fire by the Holy Spirit until they cannot help but share the Good News to those who are outside the Church. Then, and only then, will people begin to see that their soul needs Jesus.
Some of the actions that will bring revival is the repentance of and abstinence from sin. Prayer and fasting are essentials for revival and restoration. A burden for the lost will cost us. It takes time to pray and loss of sleep pleading for lost souls. Our burden should be broad and wide but it can only be placed upon us by the mantle of the Holy Spirit.
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved! Psalm 80:17-19
Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation. Psalm 85:5-7
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; our lips have spoken lies; your tongue has muttered perversity. Isaiah 59:1-3
