“The Unpopular People,” by Dr. James R. Wining

Over my lifetime I became personally aware of two very “Unpopular People.” In my youth I observed the tragedies of Native Americans and as an adult the tragedies of autistic people. Neither group has the understanding, appreciation or concern demonstrated by the huge public outcry framed as “Black Lives Matter,” No there isn’t a public movement like “Black Lives Matter,” for the Native American or the autistic person. No what I see is a public again trying to cover up the group of people called autistic and call them “Special Needs.” Moreover, for the Native American to look down on their accomplishments and describe them as “Fruitless enterprises.”. The Native American is accustomed to being lied to, promised one thing and getting another and generally placated without any recourse. Similarly, autistic people are use to having help one month and having nothing the next. They are also use to being hidden in groups of handicapped children or adults with again promises of help but nothing consistent to rely upon. Both groups are just not loud, rude and large enough…

New Home of Acts Ministry 4166 W. Kearney Springfield, Missouri

ANNOUNCEMENT Acts Ministry, Inc. will be moving and beginning its operations January 1, 2021 at its new worldwide headquarters at 4166 West Kearney Springfield, Missouri 65803. We will be leaving our headquarters offices at The Plaza Towers after seven years at the end of the month on December 31, 2020. Our new offices will accommodate three film studios, a large area for meetings and worship and several other ministerial services previously conducted without the benefit of centralized services and workforce. We sincerely and prayerfully believe these new accommodations will help our subordinated ministries, ministers, affiliates, supporters and followers. We all know this year has had many disappointments, challenges and limitations. We have seen our loved ones seriously sick and our dear friends die. None of us look forward to a world turned inward with greed, hatred and bitterness. All of which appears to be occurring with the absence of God The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. This leaves us very little in the world to respect, trust or love. This is the call of Acts Ministry…

“Betty Sharp the Love of Jesus,” by Dr. James R. Wining

In 2011 Mrs. Betty Sharp of Lee’s Summit affectionately called “Miss Betty,”approached me about her vision to start a non-profit for families with autistic children (later the non-profit was expanded to include children with special needs). Her objective was to have events during the year especially designed for those families with autistic children. These children were usually unable socially to attend an event or who were inadvertently excluded from an event such as a Christmas party, Halloween Party or water park activity. Her mission was to offer these families during the year events that welcomed them and were safe for their children. I was honored to form Autism Outreach Fellowship for her. Since that time we have had annual events such as Christmas with Santa, Halloween Pumpkin Parties, Winter Swimming/Water park Events, Basketball Night Events and many other activities which have served hundreds of people. Children have enjoyed activities, presents and food. Moreover, many parents/guardians have received gifts cards to ease the challenge of providing for a family with a special needs and/or autistic member. This is all…
